Eights on a prepped strip, nines on the street
Chevrolet's 8.675 s came from its own validation testing at US 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan, with Corvette engineer Stefan Frick driving and "multiple back-to-back quarter-mile runs all under 8.8 seconds" (GM). That makes it a recorded time on our labels, timed on the strip but run and published by Chevrolet itself, with no outside tester on hand. Private cars have since matched it on prepped strips: DragTimes ran 8.74 s at 159 mph with a customer car at TX2K (Corvette Blogger), and Hutter Performance posted 8.580 s at 160.93 mph before the car spun into the wall past the finish, which the shop blamed on a "tire malfunction" (GM Authority).

Bars show seconds over eight, so shorter is quicker. Chevrolet's and Dodge's own passes recorded, timed by the makers; Chevrolet's ZTK figure claimed; Hutter Performance reported (prep and changes not published); the rest recorded by DragTimes, Car and Driver, Top Gear, Hagerty and MotorTrend. The Demon 170 row is for scale.
