Rimac Nevera R 0-60, quarter mile and 24 records, explained

1.66 s to 60 and 7.90 s for the quarter, on Rimac's own record day, timed by Dewesoft. 2,107 hp, 40 cars planned, about 20 being built.

How fast is the Rimac Nevera R?

Rimac says the Nevera R reaches 60 mph in 1.66 seconds recorded and covers the quarter mile in 7.90 seconds recorded, from a July 2025 session at the Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany measured by Dewesoft (Rimac). Jalopnik reports that Dewesoft's clock started after one foot of rollout (Jalopnik), the convention Rimac footnotes on its spec sheets.

The same session logged 431.45 km/h (268.2 mph) recorded and 0-400-0 km/h in 25.79 s recorded. Rimac published no trap speed, so our race uses our own figure of 186 mph estimate. No magazine or drag strip has timed an R. The best independent number for the family is DragTimes' 8.582 s at 167.51 mph recorded in an original Nevera at Famoso Raceway in 2021 (Rimac). Rimac planned 40 cars claimed from €2.3 million claimed; AutoNext reports Mate Rimac saying about 20 reported will be built (AutoNext).

What the R changed

Rimac revealed the Nevera R on August 16, 2024, at The Quail during Monterey Car Week (TechCrunch). Mate Rimac said later that "we listened carefully to our customers who wanted to discover just how far we could push the Nevera's cornering ability" (Rimac).

So the R gets 193 more metric horsepower, a fixed wing and a larger diffuser for 15% more downforce and 10% better aero efficiency, Michelin Cup 2 tires with more camber for 10% less understeer, and a 3.8 s quicker lap of the Nardo handling track claimed (Rimac). Rimac calls it a move from Hyper GT to Hyper Sportscar.

Numbers that don't feel real

Every figure carries its label. claimed means Rimac said it. recorded is timed on an actual run: an instrumented test, a certified or verified record run, or a maker's own pass on a drag strip's timing system; Rimac's records count here because Dewesoft timed them, though Rimac ran the sessions. verified means an official body such as Guinness. reported is press we couldn't trace to a primary source. derived is our math. estimate is modeled for our race because no published figure exists. How Rimac's record clock works

Rimac doesn't set its records on a drag strip. It takes the car to the 12.3 km oval at Automotive Testing Papenburg, switches it to high-speed mode and lets Dewesoft's satellite and inertial sensors time each run (Dewesoft). For the original Nevera's 2023 records, Dewesoft says the clock started after one foot of rollout, on non-prepped asphalt with road-legal Michelin Cup 2 R tires, while Racelogic timed the same runs as a check (Dewesoft). For the R, Jalopnik quotes Dewesoft's report saying the same foot of rollout applied.

Rollout flatters a 0-60: US testers leave out the first foot, which is worth roughly two tenths of a second at these launch speeds derived, so a time from a true standstill would be slower than 1.66 s. It matters much less for the quarter mile: a drag-strip timer also starts only once the front tire rolls out of the staging beam, so 7.90 s is roughly comparable with a strip ET, even though Papenburg isn't a prepped strip. Our methodology guide explains rollout.

01A deeper front lip

The R's redesigned bumper adds a deeper lip and horizontal lines that stress width. Together with the wing and diffuser it adds 15% downforce and 10% aero efficiency.

02Stickier rubber up front

20-inch front wheels on Michelin Cup 2 tires with more negative camber: 10% less understeer, 5% more lateral grip. The Drive reports "Evo2" carbon-ceramic brakes with a silicone matrix layer.

03A smaller battery

The pack is part of the carbon monocoque's structure. The R uses a next-generation 108 kWh pack; the original Nevera carries 120 kWh in 6,960 cylindrical cells.

04Four motors, one brain

One motor drives each wheel. Rimac's All-Wheel Torque Vectoring recalculates every wheel's torque 100 times a second, retuned for the R's grippier tires.

05Bigger at the back

21-inch rear wheels replace the Nevera's 20s, giving what Heyl calls "a forward-leaning stance."

06The fixed wing

The Nevera's wing moves; the R's biplane wing is fixed. Heyl: "Every element serves a purpose - from the biplane wing generating downforce to the redesigned air ducts improving cooling."

Up to 400 km/h and back in 25.79 seconds

Rimac's July 2025 session at Papenburg produced 24 records, from 0-60 mph to a standing mile in 19.71 s recorded (Rimac). Jalopnik notes the count is partly bookkeeping: Rimac times the same runs in both km/h and mph. The headline is 0-400-0 km/h, a test of power, aero and brakes that Rimac and Koenigsegg have traded back and forth since 2023 (Top Gear). The EV top-speed title didn't last as long: BYD says a Yangwang U9 Track Edition reached 472.41 km/h a month later claimed (BYD), and the Yangwang U9 Xtreme later claimed 496.22 km/h claimed.

Under eight seconds, with no trap speed

At its 2024 launch Rimac claimed an 8.23 s quarter claimed (The Drive); the record run took 7.90 s. Neither Rimac nor Dewesoft published a speed at the line, so our race uses 186 mph estimate, our own figure. The only Nevera ever timed on a drag strip by someone else is the original car, which DragTimes ran to 8.582 s at 167.51 mph at Famoso Raceway in 98 °F heat (DragTimes).

What people are saying

Reaction split four ways. These are opinions, quoted with links.

The numbers car

"It's the ultimate numbers car, but so much more at the same time."Yousuf Ashraf, evo, 2025, Goodwood drive

Holding launch control on the hill, he wrote, "there's so much tension in the car it feels like the motors are twisting the driveshafts."

The record book

"Breaking records is in our DNA, and we won't stop here."Mate Rimac, Rimac, July 2025

The Nürburgring EV record and the Goodwood hill record remain targets Rimac named for the R.

The fine print

"Dewesoft's report says these were measured after 1 foot of rollout was detected with a total velocity threshold of 0.5 mph."Jalopnik, July 2025

Rimac ran the session itself, published no trap speed, and no magazine has timed an R.

The order book

"The Nevera missed its sales plan and still did its job."AutoNext, October 2026, production ends

Mate Rimac's own words for the car are blunter: "It's a glitch in the matrix that this exists" (Rimac).

The consensus: nobody seriously disputes that the Nevera R has the quickest instrumented acceleration figures of any production car, or that its top speed was a real, measured run. The arguments are about the fine print: records set by the maker on its own test day, a foot of rollout that flatters the 0-60, a quarter mile with no published trap speed, no independent test yet, and a production run that ended at about half its plan.

Things most people don't know

01

It's metric horsepower

Rimac's 2,107 hp is metric. Its 1.55 MW works out to about 2,078 hp by the SAE measure U.S. buyers know derived.

Rimac

02

The quicker car has the smaller battery

The R's pack is 108 kWh; the original Nevera's is 120 kWh.

Rimac

03

Its spec sheet undersold it

Rimac's launch spec said 300 km/h in 8.66 s. The record run did it in 7.89 s, yet Rimac's January 2026 release still quoted 8.66 s.

Rimac

04

A trap speed nobody published

Dewesoft's table gives the R's quarter mile, 7.90 s, but no speed at the line. The 186 mph our race uses is our own figure estimate, to be replaced if a timed trap speed appears.

Dewesoft

05

The Nevera holds a reverse record

Guinness witnessed an original Nevera reach 275.74 km/h driving backwards in 2023.

Rimac

06

Customers don't get 400 km/h by default

The Nevera is delivered limited to 352 km/h. Its full top speed comes only at Rimac-supervised events, with tire checks.

Rimac

07

Two clocks, one hundredth apart

The Nevera's 2023 quarter mile read 8.25 s on Dewesoft's gear and 8.26 s on Racelogic's, timing the same run.

Rimac

08

24 records, some twice

Rimac times the same runs in km/h and mph, so 0-200 km/h and 0-120 mph count separately.

Jalopnik

09

It beat an F1 car, two races out of three

In a 2023 carwow drag race the original Nevera won two of three standing quarter miles against a Red Bull RB8 and the McMurtry Spéirling.

Rimac

Its neighbors on the strip

In our quarter-mile model the Nevera R finishes third of 21, using Rimac's 7.90 s record and our 186 mph trap estimate. The car just quicker and the car just slower:

Questions people ask

How fast is the Rimac Nevera R from 0 to 60 mph?

Rimac recorded 1.66 seconds at the Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany in July 2025, measured by Dewesoft. Jalopnik reports that Dewesoft started the clock after one foot of rollout, the convention Rimac footnotes on its spec sheets, so a time from a true standstill would be a little slower. Rimac's launch figure in 2024 was 1.74 seconds. No magazine has published its own instrumented test.

What is the Rimac Nevera R's quarter-mile time and trap speed?

Rimac recorded 7.90 seconds over 402 meters in the same July 2025 session, which Jalopnik called the first quarter mile under eight seconds by a production car. Rimac published no trap speed, so the 186 mph our race uses is our estimate. No drag strip has timed a Nevera R.

What is the Rimac Nevera R's top speed?

431.45 km/h (268.2 mph), recorded by Rimac with Dewesoft in the car's high-speed mode at Papenburg in July 2025. Jalopnik says Dewesoft certified 268.092 mph, averaged over 600 meters. Rimac's 2024 launch figure was 412 km/h, the original Nevera's record.

How much horsepower does the Nevera R have?

Rimac quotes 2,107 hp and 1.55 megawatts from four motors, one per wheel. That figure is metric horsepower; 1.55 megawatts is about 2,078 hp in the SAE units U.S. buyers usually see. The original Nevera makes 1,914 metric hp from 1.4 megawatts.

How many Nevera R are being built, and what do they cost?

Rimac announced 40 cars from 2.3 million euros, ten of them Founder's Editions. In October 2026 AutoNext reported that Mate Rimac said in an Instagram video that Nevera production ends with car number 71 at the end of 2026, including about 20 Nevera R.

What is the difference between the Rimac Nevera and the Nevera R?

The R adds 193 metric hp, a fixed rear wing in place of the active one, a larger diffuser and a deeper front lip for 15 percent more downforce, Michelin Cup 2 tires, 21-inch rear wheels and retuned torque vectoring. Its battery is smaller, 108 kWh against 120 kWh. Rimac calls the change a move from Hyper GT to Hyper Sportscar.

Labels. Claimed: Rimac or another maker said it. Recorded: timed on an actual run: an instrumented test, a certified or verified record run, or a maker's own pass on a drag strip's timing system, with the tester or measurer, place and conditions named; Rimac's records are recorded rather than verified because Rimac ran the sessions and Dewesoft and Racelogic are measurement companies, not official bodies. Verified: an official body, here Guinness. Reported: press reporting we couldn't trace to a primary source. Derived: our math from published figures. Estimate: modeled for our race because no published figure exists; here the 186 mph trap speed. Dewesoft's table lists 0-200 km/h in 3.95 s and 200-300 km/h in 3.89 s, which add up to 7.84 s against a listed 0-300 km/h of 7.89 s, so the splits are best figures that may come from different runs. All the race figures and the other cars are on the cars hub, and the methodology guide explains what each label means. Sources disagree on a few counts: Rimac's site gives 2,340 Nm of motor torque where some press gives 2,360 Nm; Rimac says "Michelin Cup 2" tires for the records while Dewesoft says "Cup 2 R"; Rimac lists the record top speed as 431.45 km/h on its releases and 430 km/h on its site; and October 2026 stories from The Supercar Blog, duPont Registry and Supercar Blondie describe a factory handover of the "very first" Nevera R, which conflicts with Rimac's January 2026 statement that deliveries began in late 2025 (it may be the first car outside the Founder's Edition), so we rely on Rimac's account.
